Advanced features of Minelab FBS detectors

This article is again focused on Minelab detectors and should be considered as a continuation of the series on multi-frequency detectorsMinelab E-trac. In the first part we had a quick look at how to read the display on the E-trac, we talked a bit about conductivity and ferrocity, so we have covered the most important basics and can move on.Today we'll take a closer look at the detector's setup (menu). Again, I'll try to keep this article simple, no technical mumbo-jumbo in the spirit of ourI will explain all the demonstrated functions of the detector menu in a clear and understandable way, so that I can understand it myself.

Since the detector setup menu is quite extensive, I will proceed in small bits and pieces and give you the individual It's better for memorization and I'm sure no one is tired of reading lengthy slices. Today I'll try to explain two important features, the first is the "High Trash" option and the second is the "Low Trash" option. The name itself tells us what it's actually about, it's a trash rate setting, but why is it there in the first place and what good is it to me? I have discrimination, so why bother with a waste rate, that's probably some useless thing you might say, but it's not and these two menu items have their importance after all. I'll try to explain to you in simple terms what each setting actually does to the detector.

Low Trash - Select this feature in areas with low to moderate soil mineralization and in areas with moderate ferrous waste contamination. A little hint, if you don't know what the soil mineralization is where you are looking, check the value on the left, in the secondThe second column shows the automatic sensitivity and you can see the soil mineralisation by the size of the column (the value of the recommended setting).

The Low Trash feature is not recommended for sites with high soil mineralization and excessive ferrous metals. Generally speaking, if I translate this to our conditions, these are basically clean places like forests, except for e.g. the White Carpathians, where the front has swept through and the forest is one big litter of shrapnel, bullets, metal etc. And I certainly wouldn't include the basalt Czech Central Highlands and most of the muddy fields in our territory. The Low Trash setting affects the way the detector evaluates targets. The detector focuses on targets that give the strongest response, so in this setting you can pass a small signal masked by a larger iron.

This feature also allows you to use a lower value for the discrimination pattern setting and a higher level of sensitivity. The ID evaluation is also more stable, since as we said the detector focuses on the strongest response and does not get confused, e.g. It is not possible to avoid the weak response, which of course also provides the answer (weak response - does not mean a deeper target). The detector in this setup provides deep ranges, but it can happen if there are multiple targets next to each other and one of theprovides a stronger response, the weaker one is suppressed and the evaluation will focus on the target that provides the stronger response. So if you want better separation rather than having depths and picking crumbs between iron choose the "High Trash" setting.

High Trash - This feature uses a more advanced method of signal processing that is controlled by the software implemented internally. This setting fundamentally changes the way the target is evaluated and, compared to the Low Trash setting, completely reverses the evaluation of targets below the probe. Targets are not evaluated by their "strength" but by how you set the rejection rate (discrimination). I will give an example for easy understanding.

I have the handcuff discrimination set to a certain value, I just don't want to kick the handcuffs, and this detector discrimination setting says that although a handcuff that is next to a colored target provides a strongerstronger response than its colored neighbor, that handcuff is suppressed in the evaluation and the detector focuses its evaluation on that non-discriminated colored target, even though it gives a weaker response.

Interesting feature, isn't it, which is why I prefer to turn this feature on in places with a lot of garbage, because it's more important to me not to cross colored targets than to dig deep. I forgot to mention that the detector tries to work faster when the High Trash feature is on (recovery rate is higher) and therefore the actual evaluation on the display may be less accurate (skipping ID). It's always important to listen to the audio first before prioritizing any stable ID on the display and telling yourself that the display is jumping, that's some mess, I'm not digging, that's absolute crap.

Next time we'll discuss other settings options and I'll probably look at the audio settings item and I'll even try to shoot some video there for illustration.

Taky děkuji, mám e-trac měsíc zatím 3 ag teprve se sním učím ;-)

Rovnez dekuji. Ja ho mam asi 4 mesice a budu se jeste ucit dlouho :-P Zrovna tuhle funkci jsem bral zjednodusene, nenapadlo me ze ma takovy vliv pri hledani, jaky ma. Mno...diky!

Těmto větám nerozumím,připadá mi že si navzájem odporují.

Funkce Low Trash se nedoporučuje na místa s vysokou mineralizací půdy a s obsahem přílišného množství železných kovů. Obecně řečeno, pokud to převedu na naše podmínky, tak jsou to v podstatě čistá místa, jakými jsou lesy, vyjma např. Bílých Karpat, kde se přehnala fronta a z lesa je jeden velký smeťák střepin, nábojů, plechů apod.

Je to v pořádku, tak jak je uvedeno. Low Trash=málo železa, Bílé Karpaty=plno železa po válce.
