Excalibur II in Czech waters

I have been thinking about searching in an aquatic environment for some time. This activity has been done for several years by a long-time friend of mine, but I still couldn't bring myself to buy an underwater detector, thinking that I would wait until next year, and so it went on until now. I got the opportunity to try out the Excalibur II metal detector from Minelab. It was the first detector from this brand that I had ever held in my hands. For the first time I was dismayed to see the many potentiometers that the detector uses to adjust. However, the setup is simple and, in my opinion, even a complete beginner can set up the detector with a few minor hints. I decided to test the detector with two tests in less than ideal conditions. I was very impressed with the results and the detector's performance.

The first test of the detector

For the first search with the Excalibur II, I chose a nearby pond that is quite contaminated with garbage. When I got into the water I was pleasantly surprised, as iron targets do not register on the Excalibur II at all, so the detector was completely calm. In fact, you can set the threshold function to an audible level, and every time you pass over an iron object, you will hear afull silence and you are not bothered by the ambient sounds caused by iron objects, unless you are looking in all metal mode. The very first signal came about a minute after I entered the water. It was a socialist dime from 1969.

At first I had a bit of trouble locating targets in the water, so I didn't dig everything the first time, but you get the hang of it in a few hours. After a couple of socialist coins and fishing eggs, a very strong signal came in that almost made my ears pop.my eardrums, and the first time I picked up a huge silver chain that weighed an incredible 111 grams!!!! I started to look further with great enthusiasm, about a meter away I managed to find a strong silver bracelet, it was again a cannon shot in my headphones. The next signals were mostly socialist coins. After another twenty minutes or so, a stronger signal came again, and lo and behold, a massive men's silver ring peeked out at me. The signal next to the ring was slightly weaker, but still perhaps stronger than the signal given by the socialist coins or the ol' coins. After about ten minutes of struggling with the scooping, I saw a faint ladies silver ring in the sub. I was getting cold in the water as I didn't get in until evening, but I didn't want to get out when it was going so well.

The next signal, was the copper ring, and after about another twenty minutes, I was getting really cold and it was getting dark, so I decided that was enough for today and I would stop by tomorrow. On the way to the beach, I pulled out another massive men's ring and happily got out of the water. Gritting my teeth, I dried off, changed clothes, photographed my findings and headed home.

The second test of the detector

The next day I had more time to search, so I planned to be in the water a little longer. After the initial ten minutes, before I got further from shore, I kicked a couple of fishing eggs and one wine cap. Once I was further from shore, the jewels started falling again, at first just a sliver copper earring. I was pleasantly surprised at how sensitive the Excaliber II is to even small targets, and also what a decent range it has on those targets.

Other signals were traditionally socialist coins, but I never dug up a piece of iron or a beer cap, which I'm sure are quite abundant in the pond, thanks to the impeccably designed discrimination. I wasn't as lucky as the previous day from the start and dug one socialist coin after another. After about 40 minutes of bad luck smiled on me, an engraved golden men's wedding ring peeked out. I was overjoyed and rushed to the shore, putting the ring away for safety, so it wouldn't fall out of my pocket while still in the water. As I reached back to where I found the ring, more signals began to fall. A very strong signal followed, and a man's silver ring appeared in the sub. Then the harvest began. In a radius of about 20 yards I pulled out a total of 8 silver and 3 copper jewels in about an hour, mostly rings, then pendants and one earring.

I ventured even deeper, but I was up to my neck in water and suddenly a nice clear signal. I couldn't get the signal out at all, as I had to stand on tiptoe while scooping. After about 15 minutes of struggling I managed to get the signal out, and lo and behold, another men's gold wedding ring. Wonderful, again I rushed ashore rather than lose it somewhere. Thrilled with my find, I decided that was enough for the day and went for a nice cold one :-).

Jinak pokud se chystáte k moři tak tohoto Excalibura máme v půjčovně za pěkné peníze.

Pěkný.Také mám Excalibura.Jsem s ním velice spokojen

Já bych byl spokojen mít na něj lokalitu :-D

Ví nikdo, prosím, je u ní uživatelský vyměnitelná sluchátka/cívka ? Nebo jsou napevno? Případně kolik měří v složeném stavu?

To Krema....lokalit je na nej plno�A ma tu vyhodu ,ze je tezky...takze,kdyz prijde v mori vlna a clovek je lehci,tak ho Excallibur podrzi,jako kotva Kremo�

Podkotacu- sonda i sluchátka jsou z důvodu vodotěsnosti napevno.
Rozměry : Shaft jde rozpůlit horní shaft cca 70 cm -asi nejdelší část

Jaccob - děkuji. Akorát by mne zajímalo, kolik bude stát oprava zpreráženeho kabelu u sluchátek?

Norde to jsou vtipy,no tak se mi neukládá tuk no :-D Bys koukal jak mě vlna dokáže v sucháči šoupnout o 10 m i s Ctx a lopatou :-D

Podkotacu-Kabel u sluchátek je opravdu silný,žádná tkanicka jako u normálních sluchátek ,jinak potom lze kabel u sluchátek normálně vyměnit nebo zkrátit,na kolik to vyjde záleží na charakteru poškozeni ale nebude to za milion :D

nic ve zlým, nálezy ti přeju ale ten článek vypadá jako pěkně napsaná reklama. A první koment že si ho můžeme půjčit můj dojem jen podporuje...

werre -článek sem nepsal já ale kamarád kterému jsem detektor co máme v půjčovně pujčil za to že napíše článek -sám chodím vodu s CTX.
Půjčuje jsi ho dost lidí zejména o prázdninách na dovolenou k moři kteří by jinak detektor do vody nevyužili a normálně chodí klasicky a nechtějí si kvůli 14 dnům u moře kupovat detektor.
Z ekomonického hlediska by přece bylo lepší ho spíš prodat ne ?
Cena na půjčovně je vzhledem k ceně detektoru velmi dobra .
