An incredible find from Pistiros

The response to this depot was some time ago, but I still like to come back to it. Czech archaeologists have made a find in the ancient city of Pistiros that is absolutely unbelievable to us "patients".

They discovered coins of all the Thracian kings, including Philip II, who destroyed the city around 345 BC. According to the archaeological excavations, the city measured about three hundred metres wide and had stone fortifications around its perimeter. It was located in an area of iron mining and bronze production, making it an important trading centre in the 5th century BC.

What makes the discovery much more interesting from the Czech perspective, however, is the discovery of the Duchcov Latin buckle. The buckle was probably lost here by the Celts when they plundered the city ruins. The same Celts who took part in the destruction of Pistir in 278 BC. This find means nothing more than that our ancestors went wherever they could to plunder in ancient times..
