US ID stamps near Pilsen on CNN

"We were in the woods near Pilsen, which is a town in the Czech Republic. It was liberated by the Americans during World War II. It was two to three centimetres underground," the young Czech described. These were dog tags from the Second World War. The text on them was clearly legible, stating that the owner was one Walter I. Chadwick. The discovery of the young Czech was also reported by other media.

"I immediately knew they were dog tags from World War II because we had already found one," Ševčík explained. He said the dog tags belonged to a man in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Chadwick is buried nearby, specifically in the cemetery in New Bedford, a town also located in the aforementioned state on the east coast of the USA.

Shevchik first shared a photo of the dog tags on the internet to try to track down the owner or his loved ones. After two days, he finally got a link to some old documents that indicated that the American soldier was to be buried in New Bedford.

"I'm really surprised that you can find so much stuff on the Internet about a man who was here in the Czech Republic some 100 years ago," Shevcik told CNN. Now the question is whether the stamps will make their way to the soldier's family.
