Daisy
Daisy Outdoor Products, known simply as Daisy, is an iconic airgun manufacturer that boasts a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. The company was founded in 1882 in Plymouth, Michigan as the Plymouth Iron Windmill Company, originally focusing on the manufacture of windmills. Its transition to the manufacture of air rifles was almost accidental - as a promotional gift to the windmillthe company began giving away air rifles, which proved to be much more popular than the windmills themselves. So in 1895, the company changed its business model and name to the Daisy Manufacturing Company, beginning its long journey in recreational firearms.
Key Daisy Milestones:
-
Red Ryder (1939): One of the most famous products is the Red Ryder air rifle, launched in 1939. Inspired by the fictional cowboy in the comics, this air rifle became a symbol of American culture. To this day, it is seen as the "first rifle" of many children and enthusiastic young shooters. In total, more than 9 million of this model have been sold.
-
Continued production during the wars: During World War II, Daisy adjusted its production to support wartime activities, but after the war it returned to producing air rifles, cementing it as the dominant player in the market.
