Thanks to the StarSense Explorer app's unique patented star-search technology, which uses your phone's GPS navigation and the "Lost in Space" algorithm to find stars. (LISA) algorithm, which is used for example for large satellites, it generates a list of currently visible celestial objects and offers you observations of planets, nebulae, star clusters or galaxies. StarSense Explorer works with most modern smartphones, including the iPhone 6 and later and most devices running Android 7.1.2 or later as of 2016. You can easily verify compatibility by downloading the free app to your phone and if you open it, your device is compatible. It is advisable to download the app before purchasing the telescope, however, it is not functional without the StarSense Explorer telescope.
The easy-to-use alt-azimuth mount and zero internal electronics make setup of all StarSense Explorer models very easy and quick. Slow movement with the sliding rod and simultaneous tracking of the arrows on the phone screen makes it easy to find the desired target. When the target turns green, it is ready to be viewed in the eyepiece of the scope.
This 70 mm refractor binocular is the lightest model in the StarSense Explorer series, with an optical tube weight of 1.63 kg and tripod weight of 1.72 kg. The smartphone holder is mounted on the top of the telescope tube. The LT 70AZ gathers enough light to show you details of the Moon, as well as Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and many bright dark sky objects. The refractor can be used without a phone, and you can even view terrestrial objects in the daytime thanks to the flip-up prism included in the package.
