7.11.2012 Treasure of Líšt'any

The bronze treasure was found nine years ago in a field near Líšt'any. It contained 105 objects from the older Bronze Age. They come from the so-called Unetic culture, i.e. from about four thousand years ago. The depot was discovered by a pair of prospectors with metal detectors.

The Celtic treasure contained 300 coins

Three years after its discovery, the public will apparently finally be able to see the Celtic treasure discovered by a trio of metal detectorists in the New Forest in England. The hoard contained nearly 300 Celtic coins. The museum must raise £37,500 to buy the hoard.

The discovery of the Viking treasure was announced fifteen years ago by Swedish archaeologists. Over a thousand silver coins from the period of the Vikingers were discovered on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea by two brothers.

The beautiful Viking artefacts known as Bedale Hoard were restored seven years ago and restored to their original beauty. The objects, believed to date from the early 10th century, were discovered by metal detectorists in North Yorkshire.

Luxury grave goods from around the known Bronze Age world found in Cyprus

Archaeologists in the Cypriot town of Hala Sultan Tekke near Larnaca have uncovered a two-chambered tomb from the Late Bronze Age. The tomb dates from 1400 to 1300 BC. It contained a rich assortment of more than 500 pieces of imported luxury goods made of gold, silver, bronze, ivory, precious stones and richly decorated vessels from many cultures across the Mediterranean, the likes of which have never been found in Cyprus before.

Eight years ago, extensive research was carried out in the centre of Rýmařov in connection with the total reconstruction of Peace Square and Radniční Street. The archaeologists discovered the foundations of a house from the thirteenth century, but also a number of artefacts such as an axe-mlat or earrings.

When a migrant treasure is found

As probably most of the searchers have registered, there was recently found literally unbelievable "moving" treasure which at least in our country has almost no competition. The find was made by the Slám brothers, so I asked Lukáš and Jakub if they could answer a few detectorist questions.

The largest Roman hoard of silver coins in Bavaria

Urban archaeologists in Augsburg, Germany, have uncovered a record-breaking Roman silver treasure. A beautifully preserved set of several thousand silver denarii from the 1st and 2nd century. century was found along with other artefacts near the city's oldest quarter, Oberhausen, on the site of a planned residential development.

24. 10. 2017 Windstorm knocked down the top of the church, there was a treasure inside

Four years ago, Hurricane Herwart swept through the Czech Republic, leaving a lot of damage in its wake. The church in Staré Křečany in the Děčín region was destroyed. It contained a treasure trove of old documents and coins.
