The first day of August 1798 brought one of the greatest clashes of the revolutionary and post-revolutionary years. It took place during Bonaparte's expedition just off the coast of Abu-Kir Bay, east of Alexandria.

After his accession to the throne, Maximilian II, as Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia and Hungary, followed his more conciliatory Catholic father. He had fifteen children. He died as a result of heart and kidney failure.

Detectorist Mariusz Stepien found a rich Bronze Age assemblage near the Scottish border. A rich collection of buckles, a sheathed sword with a complete hilt, as well as a unique horse harness with ornaments, leather and wood remnants from the Late Bronze Age (1000 - 800 BC). This is the first find of its kind in Scotland and the method of attaching the various parts of the harness is the first time it has been seen in Britain...
