Within the individual entries, attention is paid to the description of the terrain location and the still visible remains of fortifications, in the case of archaeologically researched sites, the results of field research are also included in the text.

Explanatory entries about individual localities are preceded by chapters describing the method of building prehistoric fortification systems, the development of the appearance of fortifications, as well as the history of archaeological research of fortifications.
