In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020 the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in collaboration with the American Research Center in Kahira and Harvard University, to create and offer virtual tours of major historical sites, archaeological sites and museums.

These tours include detailed photographs of archaeological sites and spatial models of the sites that can be navigated freely. You can see the 3D model of the object itself, its floor plan, its interior furnishings, all accompanied by short interactive descriptions in English. Virtual reality tours are also available, but for these you need a headset.

You can enter the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, see the tomb of Queen Menna restored between 2007-2009, the Temple of Abu Simbel, or Luxor Temple, where you have the choice of a day or night tour and information about its architecture and decoration. In much poorer quality, very similar to the games of 20 years ago, you can visit the Pyramid of Khufu, the Great Sphinx and other temples and tombs in Giza.
