The settlement of the Germanic tribe Kvádů was discovered nine years ago by archaeologists in Rousínov in the Vyškov region. They investigated the site where the corporate car park was planned. The Kvád family inhabited Moravia in the second century BC.

The remains of the dwellings that archaeologists found were 1800 years old. This is another clear proof that the Germans inhabited Moravia. The trunk had typical Germanic semi-recessed cottages built on the settlement.

"On the south side it had an entrance niche, the internal structure consisted of six poles, the interior of the cottage then formed a steamed floor and other small depressions, such, we would say today, cellars for food. We also found two well-preserved ceramic cups with a hollow shank, which is a great success, "said Blanka Mikulková, head of archaeological research.

According to them, the most valuable thing was hidden in one of the pits they used as a pantry. Archaeologists have also discovered several iron objects. "It includes bucket handles, part swords, hoes or part axes. Very few such tools have been preserved from 1800 years ago, "said the archaeologist.

All found items ended up in the laboratory. There, the pottery is washed and the damaged parts are glued. The experts took the other metal objects to a special laboratory, where they treated the metals to prevent corrosion from continuing.

In the nineteenth century, there was Kment's brickyard on the site where the remains of the Kvád housing estate were located. At present, the subsoil has been largely excavated. Archaeologists were therefore surprised to come across such old remains of the settlement. However, the surroundings were so devastated that it was impossible to estimate how large the settlement was.

Archaeologists, on the other hand, were able to reveal that the settlement in Rousínov consisted of various buildings intended for food storage, the so-called cellars. These are deepened circular pits. The housing estate also consisted of residential cottages in which the Germans lived. They are rectangular buildings with a niche for the entrance and an above-ground structure supported by six poles. They were classic cottages with a gabled roof.

The Quads were farmers. Their relatives were the Marcomanni, who settled Bohemia.
