Archaeologists in Senon, France, have discovered three large depots of coins from the turn of the 3rd and 4th centuries. The coins were stored in containers in three houses in carefully prepared pits. Collectively, they number in the thousands. The discovery is unique not only in the quantity of coins, but especially in the context: these are not hastily deposited depots, but exceptionally documented long-term financial stocks.
