A surprising discovery in the village of Niwarsi in the Indian state of Haryana has turned rice fields into a veritable treasure trove. Silver coins were discovered while digging up soil from the grounds of an ancient temple. As soon as the news broke, villagers came running and together they have already found over 2 kilograms of silver coins.

I created this post as a reaction to the topic of livery buttons on lovcipokladu.cz. Special greetings to the prospector, whom I will disappoint, because he was expecting a presentation of buttons "from Countess Bathory's petticoat" 🙂

Beginning detectorist Glenn Manning was incredibly lucky near Willersey in Gloucestershire when he discovered two Roman swords on his second expedition. They are spatha-type cavalry weapons dating from the 2nd to 3rd centuries. Subsequent archaeological research has produced a number of exciting discoveries, including an Iron Age settlement and a spectacular Roman villa.

The finds of the average detectorist are almost never anything particularly valuable, but occasionally there is a piece that is interesting, especially if one does a little digging about it.

The amazing thing about detecting is not that you find a pot of gold and you become rich, because that really doesn't happen and anyone who has ever tried it knows thatthat you really don't get rich from this and that the probability of finding something of any financial value that is worth mentioning is very close to, or rather equal to, zero.

I think every searcher knows that. Finding a HAND knob with or without a number is a very common thing, but few people probably know what is behind which number or even the colour of the knob. I've managed to put together a little overview of how the country's regiments. The information corresponds to the year 1914/1915. The button findings have been completed. Plus descriptions of the mountain hunting battalions and also the provincial gendarmerie headquarters.
