The Institute of Archaeology of the CAS, Brno, invites all searchers, archaeologists and history lovers to an exceptional event. In the Visitor Centre Mušov will be 20. On June 20, 2025, the unique find of a Roman wrist wallet discovered during a metal detector survey at the site of the Roman fortress Hradisko near Mušov will be presented to the public for the first time. This extraordinary event will also offer expert lectures on the life of the Roman army and its monetary system.

It is no secret that I have been interested in sacramentals and crosses for many years. So not only what are the variants, types and methods of production, but also their fate. Some are common, some are little seen, and above all there is a huge variation. In my self-study, I have several times considered the ways in which they were probably worn and preserved. A coin from a sold-out treasure trove has turned up

In 2015, George Powell and Layton Davies found more than 300 silver coins and gold jewellery in a field in Herefordshire. At the time, they photographed their find and shared it on social media, but did not report it to the authorities. When police later arrested them, they found just 31 coins. The rest had disappeared to an unknown destination. It was only recently that one of the coins from the hoard turned up at auction.
