A massive medieval sword was discovered three years ago by a man using a metal detector in the Ždánice forest. The weapon dates back to the turn of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. It was probably a purely functional and practical weapon.

A set of twenty artefacts found by a metal detector near the village of Llanddeusant in Carmarthenshire dates from 1000 - 800 BC. It contains 20 artefacts - including three types of bronze axe, a broken spear, etc. It was declared a treasure late last month by Paul Bennett, chief coroner for Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

The Finnish metal detectorist Oskari Heikkilä was very happy to discover Viking silver coins in the field. There were a total of twelve pieces, some of them apparently used as jewellery. They date back to the 10th century.
