The lecture will focus on one specific component of archaeological findings - archaeobotany. Plant macrofossils, i.e. the remains of parts of crops that people in the past grew, consumed, processed, or plants that that were found in the vicinity of their settlements, are a rich source of information about the everyday life of people in the past.

9. 3. 1968 Polička Coin Treasure

Workers found a treasure in the shaft of one of the townhouses in Polička in 1968. It contains a total of twelve thousand Silesian coins. The town of Polička tried for years to get it from the East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice. Finally, it succeeded.

8. 3. 2017 Medieval iron boiler

An interesting find was made five years ago at a site in Znojmo where a garage was planned. It was a giant iron boiler from the tenth century. Its capacity was seventy to one hundred litres. It was preserved in its entirety.

The new Astro FI telescope series has appeared relatively recently. The whole series draws a lot of inspiration from the original Celstron SLT series (which is fortunately still in production, although for a while it looked like it wouldn't be). A sword from the Celtic period was found seven years ago by Miroslav Brázdil from Holešov. He was looking for a root in the forest so that he could create a new terrarium for the glassbirds. However, he discovered an artefact for which he was rewarded with ten thousand crowns.
