6. 5. 2011 Viking treasure contained 200 silver jewels

The Viking treasure was found ten years ago by a prospector with a metal detector. Darren Webster unearthed 200 pieces of silver jewellery in Cumbria, north-west England. There's been a lot of interest in the hoard.

The oldest iron axe found on our territory was discovered nine years ago by a collaborator of the Mladá Boleslav Museum under the Chlum hill. Its age was estimated at about 2500 years.

The results of an interesting research were published five years ago by Egyptian and Italian scientists. They found that Tutankhamun's dagger is made of iron originating from a meteorite.

Nine years ago, the public was able to see for the first time photos of shoes and a coat from the wreck of the Titanic. It was a century after the ship sank in the North Atlantic. The images were meant to illustrate the tragedy that took place.

1. 6. 2013 Bošilecký treasure

Thirty-eight years ago, Miloš Kříž from Rodvínov, near Jindřichův Hradec, discovered a silver treasure hidden under the floor of St Martin's Church in Bošilec during construction work. All he had to do was reach out with a pickaxe and dig into the ground. The depot contained 750 coins.

First detector search and the find of a lifetime: A mix of Roman, Viking and other treasures

Detective Charles Cartwright went on his first search on May 7. He was walking through a field at Polfields Coppice in Doddenham when he came across a very strong signal. He eventually unearthed nearly 300 rare historical artefacts from a shallow depth, including jewellery from the medieval and Bronze Age periods, as well as a number of Egyptian valuables. But suspicion replaced the joy.
