It's no secret that LP has begun to focus on smart telescopes in astronomy, which is clearly where we see the future of the field. Following the Unistellar and ZWO brands, we made a distribution deal with DWARF LAB at the end of this year. So you can now find 3 of the 4 most pioneering companies in the field on LP.

2,000 years ago, it probably formed the head of the iconic Corinthian column. For many centuries it was preserved by the Romans as a valuable relic. In the Anglo-Saxon period, a hitherto unknown bishop had the head turned into a goblet and decorated with gold. 1,100 years ago, it was placed in the ground along with hundreds of gold and silver objects from all over the then known world. In 2014, it was discovered in Britain's largest Viking hoard by Derek McLennan with the help of a metal detector.

Without claiming any fortune telling skills, we know that many of you found a smart telescope under the tree this year😀. So the following tips might come in handy. From Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th December we should have clear skies over our area - ideal conditions for astro photography. A full astronomical night is already setting in around 6pm. If all goes well, we will be able to observe and photograph deep-sky objects until at least 10 pm, when fog may form in some areas.

Two detectorists have discovered a depot of luxury Anglo-Saxon jewellery from the 7th century in Lincolnshire, England. The set consists of four different gold pendants and a fragment of a richly decorated brooch with garnets. According to archaeologists, it is neither a commonly stored treasure nor standard grave goods - circumstances suggest a possible connection to a ritual "killing".

We are once again on the Russian front of the First World War. After the articles about Vladivostok and USAT Sherman I decided to write one more article to complete the story. As I have already mentioned, my grandfather, after arriving on the Eastern Front, survived the attack and massacre caused by the Don Cossacks and, seriously wounded, was taken to the village of Gornostayevka where he served for five long years on the farm of the Cossack Shimanovsky. Who were these fearsome warriors whose name inspired respect across Europe?

The exhibition The Myth of the Great Goddess will present to the public a unique set of so-called younger Venus from the Neolithic period, approximately 6,500 years old. These small female statuettes are among the most significant archaeological monuments of their period and are inherently linked to the cultures of the Early and Late Stone Age, which created one of the most remarkable phases of prehistory in Moravia and Central Europe.
