Scientists from the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, in cooperation with amateur detectorists, have made an extraordinary discovery: during research at a secret site in southern Moravia, they uncovered objects and a piece of bronze armour from 3,200 years ago. The discovery is quite exceptional in the European context; it is only the second such example on our territory.

It started at the end of May near the Polish town of Kalisz, when a search for the remains of V2 rockets first found one container with 631 objects, including coins from the early Middle Ages. Three weeks later, just a few hundred metres from the first find, a second pot of treasure was discovered. And this week a third pottery vessel was found; this time with Roman gold.

It probably belonged to a high-ranking nobleman or aristocrat. It is the first ever Dacian discovery in this locality.

Two treasure jars were found near the town of Kalisz in central Poland over the course of several days. The finds were made by members of the Denar association, who were originally searching for the remains of a German V-2 rocket from the Second World War in the area. The first vessel contains silver coins, fragments and jewellery from the 11th century. The second is even more interesting - it comes from outside Central Europe.
