22.2.2010 Coins of Alexander the Great in a bronze chest

A great discovery was announced eleven years ago by archaeologists working in the ancient city of Aleppo. One of the locals found 250 coins from the time of Alexander the Great while digging the foundations for his house.

21.2. 2016 Detectors found the remains of the helicopter

The remains of a helicopter were discovered by metal detectors by two men five years ago near Damníkovo, near Česká Třebová. It was a Polish machine that crashed there just a few weeks after the occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968. The pilot and two passengers did not survive the crash.

20.2.2014 Did the searcher find the legendary treasure of the Nibelungs?

An archaeology enthusiast found a real treasure from the Late Antiquity in Germany seven years ago. It consisted of gold and silver jewellery, but also other precious objects. Speculation began to swirl as to whether this was the legendary treasure of the Nibelungs.

19.2.2010 Unique engraved drawing at Prague Castle

A unique engraved drawing was discovered by archaeologists eleven years ago at Prague Castle. It was during rescue research of the so-called Middle Wing, where the information centre is located. It was the first such find on the territory of the capital.

A shocking message from the past: children's identification stamps in the Sobibor extermination camp

Excavations at the Sobibor extermination camp in Poland have revealed four identification marks of murdered Jewish children. All came from Amsterdam, which was part of the targeted extermination of Dutch Jews in the spring and summer of 1943. In this camp alone, more than a quarter of a million people, thousands of young children, including infants, were cruelly murdered in just 16 months.

18.2.2007 Celtic furnace from the time of Caesar

Archaeologists found a rare Celtic furnace from the Caesarian period during the modernisation of the so-called Apponyi Palace in Bratislava. In addition, there was a grave from the Great Moravian period under the building.

17.2. 2016 Coins from the Thirty Years' War

The beautiful find was made by amateur archaeologist Martin Skříček in the autumn of 2015 and was reported by the media in February of the following year. He discovered thirty coins from the Thirty Years' War on the edge of the woods of Woodhostice Forest using a metal detector.
