Forty-five-year-old man discovered the body of a dead soldier from World War II in the woods near Oldřišov in the Opava region eight years ago. Police officers, technicians and an expert from the Archaeological Institute in Opava immediately went to the site.

In ancient Egypt, dogs had an important role. They were intermediaries who would intercede with the god Anubis on behalf of their masters and secure benefits in the afterlife. It was in the catacombs of Anubis that archaeologists discovered millions of mummies of dead animals.

Five years ago, archaeologists published photos of five 3,000-year-old bronze vessels that a random passer-by found in a field near Buštěhrad in Kladno. Experts estimated their value at nearly a million crowns.

May 10, 2014 Gold and silver coins on the construction site

Seven years ago, gold and silver coins were found during excavations in Prague 12. Their value was initially estimated by experts at about three million crowns. The excavator, the deputy mayor and officials all claimed the reward.

Two telescopes made of bones were discovered nine years ago in Amsterdam during the reconstruction of toilets. They date from the eighteenth century and the longer of the two measures about fourteen centimetres.

Eight years ago, the public was able to see Benito Mussolini's secret bunker for the first time, at least through photographs. He had it built under his Rome headquarters in the Palazzo Venezia during World War II.

7 May 2013 Hundred tons of coins on sunken steamer

A pile of silver coins worth £34 million was discovered eight years ago by treasure hunters in the wreck of the British steamship SS City of Cairo, which was sunk by the Nazis. It happened in 1942 when the passenger liner was travelling from Bombay to England.

Significant finds were made by archaeologists at the Klementinum complex in Prague, where they were conducting research due to the planned modernization. They discovered two female tombs from the early Middle Ages and a classroom of a sixteenth-century Jesuit school.
