6.9. 1437 The army captured Jan Rohac of Dubá

Jan Roháč of Dubá belonged to the followers of the radical Hussite movement of the Taborites. In early September 1437 he was captured and executed in Prague on Old Town Square. Of the Gothic castle of Sion, only modest remains of the castle palace and walls have survived.

In 1723, Emperor Charles VI decided to fulfil his eleven-year delayed promise to the Czech Estates that he would be crowned King of Bohemia. The coronation took place in St. Vitus Cathedral.

In 1915, the Czech Foreign Committee was founded, which was the first political body of the Czechoslovak resistance. Beneš, Masaryk and Štefánik were involved in its establishment.

Unique detector find of a female medieval seal

A silver seal from the late 13th century was found in the spring of 2019 using a metal detector on the grounds of a local trade school. Due to the quality of the material, it is in near-original, excellent condition. Medieval seals bearing a woman's name are among the very rare finds, especially for a family of such status.

The Golden Treasure of the Prince of Saxony

A group of scientists at Kazakhstan's Al Farabi National University, led by archaeologist and professor Abdesh Tileubaev, has discovered a unique harness fitting made of almost perfectly pure gold with elements never seen before. It belongs to the mound of a Scythian ruler, located at the Eleke Sazy burial site in eastern Kazakhstan.
