14 Jun 2014 Brickworks hid the grave of an archer

The children came across the human bones while playing in a former brickyard in Držovice in the Vyškov region. Archaeologists later said it was a truly unique grave of an archer.

13. 6. 2011 The oldest battle site from the Bronze Age

Ten years ago, archaeologists discovered a hundred skeletons in the Tollense valley in northern Germany, suggesting a brutal battle between warring tribes. The pierced skulls and broken bones apparently lay on the oldest battlefield ever found. It dates back to the Bronze Age.

Nine years ago, archaeologists from Opava boasted of a beautiful find. During their research in the city parks they came across a rare medieval ring. It dates back to the beginning of the city's history.

A chained skeleton as unique evidence of slavery in Roman Britain

The internationally significant discovery of the grave of a young man shackled and chained up to 1,800 years old is the first of its kind in the UK and one of the few found in Europe. The slave was secured with massive locked iron shackles. According to experts, he was deliberately shackled and then thrown into a ditch outside the boundaries of a nearby cemetery.

The world's oldest lotion was discovered by archaeologists in 2003 on the site of a former ancient Roman settlement in central London. It was in a tin box. At first glance, it's clear someone was using it. There are fingerprints in the cream.

British scientists announced thirteen years ago, after new excavations, that the ancient English Stonehenge served as a royal burial site. Using radiocarbon tests, they examined human remains.

For over five hundred years, the Roman Colosseum was the largest amphitheatre in the Roman Empire. It was the site of gladiatorial duels, wild animal fights and executions. But then, for centuries, it fell into disrepair. Now, almost two thousand years later, this cultural monument is getting a new floor. It will actually be a replica of the original. It should be finished by the end of 2023.
