9.9. 1285 Queen Kunhuta of Hungary died

The second wife of Přemysl Otakar II was the young and supposedly exceptionally beautiful Kunhuta Uherská. She married at the age of sixteen and bore the king a son, Václav II. She apparently died of tuberculosis at the age of forty.

140 km from the Czech border, a unique Germanic princely grave from the time of the Migration of Nations is discovered

Between Brücken and Hackpfüffel in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, a richly furnished grave of a Germanic nobleman was found in a mound dating from 480 - 530 AD. Six women and eleven animals were buried in a circle around the prince. According to experts, this is the most important archaeological site in Germany in the last 40 years...

The siege of Leningrad began in early September 1941. It lasted a full 900 days. The suffering of the local population was immeasurable. People died of hunger, cold, disease, bombing and sniping.

Shadows of the dead in 1,500-year-old graves

An Anglo-Saxon cemetery with 208 6th century graves has been discovered by archaeologists at Oulton near Lowestoft in East Suffolk on the site of a future residential development. The graves concealed the rare phenomenon of silhouettes - dark impressions of the undead in the sandy soil.

6.9. 1437 The army captured Jan Rohac of Dubá

Jan Roháč of Dubá belonged to the followers of the radical Hussite movement of the Taborites. In early September 1437 he was captured and executed in Prague on Old Town Square. Of the Gothic castle of Sion, only modest remains of the castle palace and walls have survived.

5.9. 1723 Charles VI crowned King of Bohemia

In 1723, Emperor Charles VI decided to fulfil his eleven-year delayed promise to the Czech Estates that he would be crowned King of Bohemia. The coronation took place in St. Vitus Cathedral.
