In the Hampshire suburb of Milford-on-Sea, a couple discovered a well-preserved set of early 15th-century Tudor gold coins while gardening. The set also included some very rare coins; two of the coins broke the auction record. The hoard has now been auctioned for 13 million crowns.

In honour of the return of the Czechoslovak Legionnaires to their homeland, an extraordinary commemorative ride on a historic steam train will take place this November. The event "Finally Home - The Story of Our Legionnaires" will commemorate the 105th anniversary of their return and the courage of all war veterans. The train headed by the locomotive 555.0153 will travel the route from České Budějovice to Prague, accompanied by legionnaires in period uniforms.

At the end of August and the beginning of September, Hungarian archaeologists from the Szent István Király Museum discovered a special grave of an Avar warrior. It dates back to the period between 670 and 690 AD and the remains there were deliberately damaged. The equipment corresponded to a high-ranking individual. The curved Avar sabre is one of the rarest examples ever discovered.
