The selection of finds for August was no fun even for the admins. Personally, I had no problem picking 20 items that certainly deserved it. In the end, 3 votes were made as the "cut" and thanks to that we have the final 14.

21 Sep 2014 Mushroom hunter finds 102 Roman coins

Roman coins were discovered by a mushroom picker in the Bruntál region seven years ago. Apparently, a trader lost them. The finder gave the treasure to the museum. In total, it was a depot of 102 coins.

Divers discover a unique treasure trove of gold coins from the fall of the Roman Empire

One of Europe's largest collections of Roman gold coins has been discovered in a shallow shoal off the coast near the town of Xàbia in Alicante, southeastern Spain. The gold solids date from the late 4th to early 5th century; all but one are in excellent condition.

Pavel Mládek from Stěžer, who discovered a bronze treasure, received a reward of 25 thousand crowns from the Hradec Králové Region. Specifically, two axes, eight talents and a needle. He handed everything over to the museum, for which he was rewarded.

They found silver coins worth CZK 1.5 million, but they only received a CZK 20 000 reward from the regional authority. Zdeněk Matějka and his colleague discovered the treasure near Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou. They were expecting a higher find.

A rare Renaissance shield from the collection of Franz Ferdinand returned to the Czech Republic

The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Historic Preservation Institute have jointly announced an agreement to return to the Czech Republic a unique Italian shield of incalculable value from the workshop of Girolamo di Tommaso da Treviso (1497 - 1544). Missing after the war, it was recently found in the armour and weapons galleries as part of the Carl Otto Kretzschmar von Kienbusch Museum Collection in Philadelphia, where it has been on display since 1976.

18. 9.2011 Engine from Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter

Almost half a meter on the ground was a preserved engine of a Messerschmitt Bf fighter which was shot down in 1945 during the liberation of Brno. The parts were found only ten years ago and went to the Moravian Museum.

Rare 3,000-year-old grave of woman with unusually heavy bronze jewellery discovered in Siberia

Archaeologists in the Republic of Khakassia in southern Siberia have discovered a richly furnished female tomb with a number of massive, heavy bronze jewels made specifically for funerary purposes. The grave lay near a stone cairn, dating from the 8th to 10th centuries BC.
