The tomb of a Viking warrior was discovered by archaeologists ten years ago on the Scottish peninsula of Ardnamurchan. He was a highly revered man. He was placed in his ship with his sword and axe.

Detectorist finds extremely rare gold coins from the Black Death

Two unique medieval gold coins dating from the mid-14th century were discovered using a metal detector near Reepham in Norfolk County back in October 2019, but PAS archaeologists presented the find after its evaluation this week. They are rare Edward III coins from the harsh times when Europe was decimated by the plague. There are only 3 similar examples in English collections.

Jaroslav Kaláb and Miroslav Popelka. These are the names of two amateur searchers who discovered a bronze treasure near Olšan in Prostějov region in 2010. They went on regular walks with metal detectors.

A three thousand year old bronze treasure was discovered six years ago in the Šumperk region by Vlastimil Flášar, a prospector with a metal detector. He stumbled upon the depot when he went for a walk in the forest. He discovered six necklaces and one pin.

Treasure hunters get 500 grand

The couple who found the coin treasure in the forest near Bořitov will receive 500 000 from the South Moravian Region. The reward was approved by the councillors. The region wants to thank the finders for their exemplary behaviour and for handing over the depot to the museum.

9. 7. 2006 One of the greatest iron treasures

Archaeologists have found around a thousand iron objects on the Klášt'ov hill in the Vizovice Hills. They discovered sickles, scythes and sword fragments. The objects lay in a layer about half a metre deep, either individually or together. It is one of the largest iron treasures in Czech history.
