March 18, 1937 A cracked pot hid a silver treasure

Hundreds of years ago, someone buried a clay pot behind the fortifications of the Žatec fort. It was full of silver and gold jewelry and coins. In 1937, a digger named Weigert found this treasure. The depot weighed a total of 2.7 kilograms.

Seven years ago, a treasure hunter found a gold mourning ring made by Hugh Audley, on whose grounds the famous Buckingham Palace was to be built. The jewel dates from the 17th century and was discovered by a metal detector by John Reed.

Twelve years ago, the unique tomb of a Celtic woman was discovered by archaeologists in western Bohemia. She was buried with several jewelry. But only teeth remained from the skeleton, the rest of the bones disintegrated.

In Denmark, they found a very rare 3,000-year-old ceremonial sword in perfect condition

Archaeologists have found a unique ceremonial sword from the Bronze Age in the village of Håre on the Danish island of Funen. It is in perfect condition, from the bronze blade to the wooden handle. Even plant fibers from the material in which the sword was originally wrapped have been preserved. The first information speaks about the origin of the material from Central Europe.

New findings about the burial ground from the time of the migration of peoples in Sendražice

In 2019, archaeologists discovered a unique 5th-century female tomb with rich equipment in Sendražice near Hradec Králové. It is one of a total of six tombs found here from the early period of migration. Five of them were looted, but the intact log cabin grave contained an amazing collection of artifacts of a high-ranking woman. This is an unprecedented finding in the Czech Republic.

A depot of 1,146 silver denarii was found twelve years ago by a metal detector, Keith Bennett, in South Warwickshire. A year later, archaeologists tried to find out who hid the Roman coins.

12.3.2016 Artifacts from the battle were discovered during the construction of the road

Artifacts from the Battle of Killiecrankie, during which the rebels were defeated by the Royal Army in 1689, were found by archaeologists during work on the A9 road. They discovered a copper pendant, horseshoes, buttons and musket ammunition.
