A 2,000-year-old treasure from the early Roman Empire has been discovered in a forest near the German village of Borsum. It is one of the largest Roman treasures ever discovered in Lower Saxony. It consists of 450 silver coins, several silver ingots, one gold coin and a gold ring. It was found by a detectorist without a search warrant. He kept the find a secret for a long time for fear of reprisals, but recently turned it in and started a new chapter in his life.

500 bronze artefacts in 3,000-year-old hoard surprises experts

A treasure trove of 500 bronze objects was discovered in a field in the Scottish Borders. Found by an amateur detectorist, it was purchased by the National Museums Scotland last year.
