3 May 1645 Swedes began to besiege Brno

The siege of Brno lasted over three months. The locals did not give up even in the most difficult moments and sang mocking songs on the walls. The enemy in the form of the Swedish army arrived at the gates of the city on May 3, 1645.

To the Roman-German King Albrecht I. Habsburg was fatal in denying his nephew a share of the inheritance. On 1 May 1308, John stabbed his uncle to death on the banks of the river Reuss together with other conspirators.

Berlin was surrounded by the Red Army, there was no escape. So Adolf Hitler decided to commit suicide in his bunker. He shot himself 75 years ago, his newlywed wife Eva Braun poisoned herself.

Twelve shipwrecks in the Mediterranean

For five years, the British team behind the Enigma Shipwrecks Project kept secret the discovery of twelve shipwrecks in the Mediterranean. They're over 2,000 years old. They include a colossus from the Ottoman Empire that had precious oriental goods on board, including Chinese porcelain.

29.4. 1945 Liberation of Dachau concentration camp

Over 200 000 people passed through the camp in Dachau, among them, for example, the writer Josef Čapek. The American army liberated the concentration camp on 29 April 1945. Inside, the soldiers found thirty thousand impoverished prisoners.

28.4 1867 Czech Crown Jewels returned from Vienna

The Czech Crown Jewels have moved several times. King Sigismund and Frederick the Great wanted to keep them. They also travelled to Vienna several times, for example during the Austro-Prussian War. They returned to Prague on 28 April 1867.

27.4. 1939 New Protectorate Government with Elias

As the only chairman in occupied Europe, General Alois Elias ended up in front of a firing squad. "His" protectorate government was appointed on April 27, 1939. People saw him as a symbol of patriotism.
