Mysterious Anglo-Saxon brooch

The British Museum examined an Anglo-Saxon brooch recovered by a metal detectorist in Norfolk. But experts have been unable to pinpoint its exact origins. It was found in a field where the owner had soil brought in.

USS Nevada

About 120 kilometres southwest of Pearl Harbor, underwater archaeologists have discovered the wreck of the legendary USS Nevada. It served in the US Navy for 35 years, eventually sinking after nuclear testing.

27 May 1942 Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich

Reinhard Heydrich was a fanatical Nazi and the third most important man in Hitler's Germany. He even had an SS-3 license plate on his Mercedes. He planned the liquidation of the Czech nation, instead he was himself liquidated on May 27, 1942 by a pair of assassins.

26.5. 1876 František Palacký died

The funeral of František Palacký was spoken of as the royal funeral and the grandest since the death of Charles IV. The "Father of the Nation" died on May 26, 1876.

War bunker in the garden
