The funeral of František Palacký was spoken of as the royal funeral and the grandest since the death of Charles IV. The "Father of the Nation" died on May 26, 1876.

War bunker in the garden

25 May 1948 Execution of soldier Witold Pilecki

He volunteered to be imprisoned in the Auschwitz concentration camp to find out what was being done to the prisoners there. But no one trusted the Polish soldier Witold Pilecki. After the war, he also stood up to the communists, who had him executed on 25 May 1948.

Hundreds of perfectly preserved artefacts uncovered by melting glacier in Norway

Archaeologists recently published a study documenting rare artifacts from a long-forgotten trail in a mountain pass beneath the melting Lendbreen glacier in Norway. Among the many items found were thousand-year-old skis, arrows, tools, clothing and the remains of a dog with collar and leash.

20.5. 1420 Hussite army led by Žižka invaded Prague

Jan Žižka, who left a large garrison in Tábor, set out with nine thousand fighters towards Prague. On the way, he captured and burned Benesov, although he faced resistance. He also scattered the royal army and on 20 May 1420 arrived in Prague, where he captured Štvanice.
