Celtic Agara - Central Poohří in the Latin Age

The exhibition "Celtic Agara - Central Poohří in the Latin Age" invites visitors to the world of the Celts who inhabited the landscape around the Ohře River more than two thousand years ago. In the historical environment of the Franciscan Monastery in Kadan you can admire unique archaeological findings, reconstructions of weapons, jewellery and objects of everyday life from the Latin Age until 28 February 2026.

Samhain 2025 at Nizbor Castle

The traditional Celtic festival Samhain 2025 will take place this year on Saturday 18 October in the grounds of Nižbor Castle - a place closely linked to the Celtic history of Bohemia. The festival will start as usual at 12:00 and will offer a rich all-day programme.

KOSMAS 900: The oldest manuscripts

The National Library of the Czech Republic commemorates the 900th anniversary of the death of the chronicler Cosmas with the exhibition The Oldest Manuscripts. Almost all surviving medieval copies of the Bohemian Chronicle will be on display in the Mirror Chapel, including the famous Leipzig manuscript with an image of the author. The exhibition will last only one month.

Presentation of the Aurora Antiqua Club

Aurora Antiqua is a club of enthusiastic history seekers from Hradec Králové and its surroundings. Our aim is to bring together people interested in detecting, archaeology and exploring our countryside. We are not only about finding treasures, but mainly about learning about and preserving our historical heritage.

Celts - our ancient past

The exhibition will present the life of the Celts in East Bohemia in the Iron Age. You will see important archaeological findings, a 3D model of the oppida and replicas of objects that you will be able to try out. There will also be an opportunity to mint your own coin or taste Celtic cuisine. The opening will take place on Sunday 28 September at 4pm.

Mikulčická mlata IV. - archaeological days at the Slavic settlement

On the last weekend in September, the Mikulčice hillfort will come alive with a period event dedicated to Great Moravia. You can look forward to demonstrations of life, crafts, martial arts, riding and falconry. The programme will be complemented by activities for families with children and expert lectures in the White House. Admission is free.
