He searched the field for weapons from the Second World War and discovered a depot that intrigued historians and numismatists from all over Europe. The Fuchsenhof treasure was in a metal container. It contained thousands of coins, jewels and two silver bars.

In eastern Slovakia, workers dug up a clay jug full of silver coins. It was under the floor of an unassuming church in the town of Žalobín in eastern Slovakia. The finders immediately handed the treasure over to the local parish priest.

During the reconstruction of the former mortuary in Ludgeřovice in the Opava region, workers discovered German coins from the Second World War. They were about six thousand pieces of phoenix, five-phoenix, ten-phoenix and fifty-phoenix coins.

36 gold and six silver coins were discovered by archaeologists during the restoration of the castle pond in Frýdlant. The treasure remained in the local castle and chateau. The researchers reported on the treasure when the pond was refilled.

Anglo-Saxon coin worth £200,000

An Anglo-Saxon gold coin was discovered by a prospector using a metal detector on the Wiltshire and Hampshire border. It dates from the reign of King Egbert. It now sells for £200,000.

Detectorists find set of Roman coins, scientists identify sacrificial offerings

Experts at Leiden University have found evidence that a set of Roman coins found near the River Aa in the DutchBrabant were not "just ordinary" treasure, but the long-stored offerings of travellers seeking a safe ford across the river. A pile of rusted rusty stones, which resembled old coins, was discovered by František Dedek during a walk in 2008. As an exemplary finder, he contacted the Tábor Museum. The depot contained four hundred different coins.

18 Jul 2013 Treasury of Celtic coins

A treasure containing 293 silver Celtic coins was found by a prospector eight years ago in the Swiss town of Füllinsdorf in the canton of Basel. At first, he discovered only a few coins buried in the soil.

Detectorist finds extremely rare gold coins from the Black Death

Two unique medieval gold coins dating from the mid-14th century were discovered using a metal detector near Reepham in Norfolk County back in October 2019, but PAS archaeologists presented the find after its evaluation this week. They are rare Edward III coins from the harsh times when Europe was decimated by the plague. There are only 3 similar examples in English collections.

Treasure hunters get 500 grand

The couple who found the coin treasure in the forest near Bořitov will receive 500 000 from the South Moravian Region. The reward was approved by the councillors. The region wants to thank the finders for their exemplary behaviour and for handing over the depot to the museum.
