2D ID Map
2D ID map function in metal detectors Minelab Manticore is a sophisticated visual tool that improves object identification. It displays targets on a two-axis graph where each axis represents different characteristics of the target. This feature is designed to help better distinguish between different types of metals and objects, allowing the user to more easily determine what is likely underground.
Details:
- X-axis (horizontal): Displays the conductivity of the object, which is the property of the metal that is under the detector coil. High conductivity (e.g. silver, copper) will be on the right side of the axis, while low conductivity (e.g. iron, aluminum) will be displayed on the left side.
- Y-axis (vertical): represents the ferromagnetic properties of the object, i.e. if the object contains iron. The higher the value on the Y-axis, the more likely it is that the object is ferrous.
By combining these two axes, detector users can more accurately estimate what kind of object is in the ground without having to dig every time. For example:
- if an object is shown near the center of the graph with a low value on the Y-axis, it is likely to be a non-ferromagnetic metal, which could be gold or other precious metals.
- If the target appears high on the Y-axis, it is likely to contain iron, and may be a common ferrous object.
The 2D ID map feature also allows you to create multiple specific patterns for different objects, which further aids in filtering and identifying artifacts. It can also eliminate certain unwanted metal signals, increasing the efficiency of the search.
This technology allows users of the Minelab Manticore detector to distinguish between valuable finds and unwanted objects with greater accuracy than traditional ID systems.
