Iron Audio

Advanced feature that allows users to distinguish iron objects

Iron Audio function for metal detectors Garrett is an advanced feature that allows users to distinguish iron objects and improve overall detection accuracy when searching for metal objects. The main purpose of this feature is to provide an audio signal even for iron targets that may otherwise be hidden or camouflaged in an area where they are present.other types of metal are present, allowing the user to recognize and filter out unwanted ferrous objects such as nails, screws, or other scrap metal.

How Iron Audio works:

  1. Standard Metal Detector Settings - When Iron Audio is turned off, the metal detector Garrett distinguishes between ferrous and non-ferrous metals based on their electrical conductivity. Ferrous objects are often ignored or faintly signaled if the detector is set to a certain discrimination level. For example, if the detector is set to ignore ferrous objects, the audible signals for ferrous objects will be muffled or not emitted at all.

  2. Enabling Iron Audio - When Iron Audio is enabled, the detector will begin to emit a characteristic audio signal even for iron targets that were previously partially or completely ignored. This signal is often distinctly hoarse or low, allowing the user to more easily identify iron objects that would not normally be signaled by the detector or would be masked by other nearby objects.

  3. Iron Target Resolution - The Iron Audio feature is particularly useful when searching in highly mineralized soils or areas with large amounts of iron waste. With this feature, you can:

    • Better identify iron objects - such as nails, rusty iron pieces or other unwanted targets.
    • Reduce digging up of unwanted objects - With an audible signal for ferrous objects, you can purposely ignore those you don't want to dig up.
    • Better detect camouflaged targets - Sometimes an iron object can obscure a non-iron target (such as a coin near a nail), and without Iron Audio, the detector might miss this valuable target. Turning on Iron Audio will reveal the iron and help you better assess the situation.
  4. Interactive Iron Discrimination - Users can adjust the level of iron discrimination based on the audible indications of the Iron Audio feature to better distinguish valuable targets from trash. This provides better control over what targets the detector prioritizes and improves search efficiency.

When Iron Audio is most useful:

  • Searching in contaminated locations - In locations with large amounts of ferrous waste, Iron Audio helps distinguish ferrous from non-ferrous targets.
  • High soil mineralization - When the detector is processing complex signals from mineralized soil, Iron Audio helps the user better distinguish between ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Recognition of ferrous objects hidden next to valuable targets - This feature is ideal forcases where non-ferrous targets may be masked by ferrous objects, such as when a coin is covered in iron.

Summary:

The Iron Audio feature of the Garrett detectors allows users to hear and identify ferrous objects due to the distinctive sound, whosewhich helps to distinguish unwanted targets while ensuring that valuable non-iron objects are correctly detected. It is a useful tool for more effective searches and reducing scavenging.
