Manticore Academy No1 - Programmable buttons
Categories: Detektor kovů Minelab Manticore

Metal detector Minelab Manticore can do a lot and it would be a great shame not to use all its potential. So Peter and I put our heads together and in each episode we'll teach you how to work with the little-used features that can both make your search more enjoyable and hopefully move you forward in challenging conditions.
Programmable buttons
The first episode will be a kind of warm-up, relaxed affair where we'll show you how to make your life more comfortable. It's probably a good idea to recap what all can be set up under the three programmable buttons for the sake of clarity. Since this menu was expanded with the first detector upgrade, I think, which is a while ago.
All metals
- Press the button to toggle the "all metal" mode on/off.
Accept/Reject
- When "All Metal" mode is off, press the "Reject" button to reject the ID when you detect a target. When "All Metal" is on, press the "Accept" button to accept IDs when they are detected.
Interference suppression
- Press the button to perform automatic interference suppression. Press and hold to perform "continuous" automatic interference suppression when the detector receives more information. (Function not available for side button)
Soil influence tuning
- Turns on/off the soil balance monitoring. Press and hold while raising and lowering the coil above the ground to perform soil balance. (not available for side button)
Favourite mode
- Toggles between the favorite search mode and the last used search mode.
Search mode
- Scrolls through all "Search Modes".
Flashlight
- Turns the flashlight on and off in the last used setting level.
Display backlight
- Scrolls through the display backlight settings from highest to lowest. A useful shortcut for twilight searches. Allows you to gradually reduce the brightness of the display as the sun sets.
Increase sensitivity
- Temporarily increases the sensitivity by 5 levels (or to the maximum)
Speaker mute
- This function allows you to mute the speaker sound. However, you can also turn it on when you have headphones connected and want someone else to hear the detector's response.
Recovery speed
- Scrolls through the recovery speed from low to high. The new setting is briefly displayed when the button is pressed.
Frequency
- Scrolls through the available frequencies from low to high.
Clear ID Map
- A useful feature when you are trying to track only one target in a cloud of other targets. We'll cover this feature in detail in a future installment.
Video - Manticore, programmable buttons
You can see how to set up the buttons as well as our recommended settings in the video. Our most traditional combination could be summarized as:
- Interference tuning, ground, torch
- Soil detuning, map ID clearing, flashlight
