24.3.1985 Treasure from Silesian Wednesday

More than thirty years ago, a treasure was unearthed during construction work in the centre of the Polish town of Silesian Wednesday. It contained medieval coins and jewellery. For example, a golden female crown that probably adorned the head of Blanka of Valois or Eliška Premyslovna.

Literally madness erupted eleven years ago in Slovakia after meteorite fragments fell near the village of Bretka. At that time, searchers with metal detectors flocked there in order to take at least a small piece home.

In China, they found the oldest face mask made of fat, moon milk and stalactites

A bronze vessel with remnants of beef fat and minerals obtained from white stalactites in limestone caves was found in a 2,700-year-old noble tomb in northern China. The analysis confirmed that it is a period fashion face mask. It is the oldest material evidence of the use of cosmetics in China.
