Searchers with metal detectors had official permission to search on the land of a property development company in the Merseyside area of England. They discovered a medieval silver brooch and an early modern gold ornate ring. Both items qualify under the Treasure Act and the finders are entitled to a hefty payout. But like the landowner, they refused the reward and donated the objects to the museum.

A rare mould for casting a bronze spearhead was discovered in the Moravian town of Morkůvky. It had been lying under a barn for years as part of the foundation masonry and nobody noticed it until recently. It is in good condition, dating from the Early Bronze Age and was imported to the region from the distant Carpathians.
