Pewter buttons are among the oldest we know and have been around for quite a long time. The first pewter buttons were certainly in production for the military in the first half of the 18th century. Fashionable pewter buttons appear to us in the second half of the 18th century and remained in supply until the second half of the 19th century.

If you noticed, I'll update the table of military buttons with the numbers and letters of the Austrian Empire every now and then.I want to eventually get this table up to 1918. But after that task is completed, I would like to turn around and move the table of military buttons up to 1750.
