8 Sep 1881 Komárovský treasure

From the beginning of September until the first week of December 1881, something extraordinary happened on the land of Prince Jan Lichtenstein. During the regulation of the Moravice River, the land gave up its treasure for a while, and some of it was removed. The rarest piece is an animal statue.

7 Sep 2011 Cellar full of skulls and bones

A shocking sight came to the attention of workers who ten years ago carried out renovations on the church in Genoa. They came across a room full of human bones and skulls. The ossuary was located behind the former morgue.

6 Sep 2012 Hill hiding the bodies of soldiers

The bodies of four children and soldiers were discovered by archaeologists at the firehouse in Majetín in the Olomouc region. The men probably died while moving from the Battle of Austerlitz, during which the French Emperor Napoleon defeated the armies of Russia and Austria in 1805.

4 Sep 2017 Roudnice Coin Treasure

The depot of 1310 coins was discovered four years ago by a metal detectorist Miroslav Bartoš and two friends. The container with the money was buried in a field near Roudnice nad Labem. The coins date back to the 15th century.

Eleven years ago a young prospector made an interesting find in Suffolk, England, where many rare artefacts have been found in the past. Twenty-one-year-old Danny Mills discovered a leaking Roman lantern in September 2010.

When they began to repair the facade of the church nine years ago, they had no idea what a surprise awaited them. Workers came across a hole that led directly into the tomb. Beneath the Church of the Assumption in Jevíček, members of the Salm-Neuburg family were buried.

Eleven years ago, Spanish archaeologists came up with an interesting discovery they had no idea about until then. A humpbacked dinosaur was roaming southwestern Europe. They found its remains.

The exposed bottom of the Plumlov Dam attracts searchers. Eleven years ago, they even found a gun there. The dam was built on the Hloučela River about three kilometres from Prostějov.

30 Aug 2012 Sword from the Crusades

A rare sword from the early Middle Ages was discovered nine years ago by a prospector with a metal detector in the Písek Mountains. Someone probably lost it in the 13th century. It was restored by experts from the Teplice Museum.

Celtic graves in South Moravia

Celtic graves from the 4th to 3rd century BC were found by archaeologists on the outskirts of Kuřim in the Brno region. One contained a warrior with a well-preserved sword, while another contained the remains of a woman buried with bronze jewellery.
