26.4. 1917 Hunger demonstration in Prostějov

Critical food shortages caused so-called hunger storms during the First World War, as most of the food went to the front. So people took to the streets to demonstrate. Some of them were shot. In Prostějov on 26 April 1917, 23 locals lost their lives.

25.4. 1626 Battle of Dessau

Albrecht of Wallenstein's well-chosen tactics won the Imperial Army one of the most important clashes of the Thirty Years' War. Count Mansfeld had to flee, losing four thousand men. The Battle of Dessau took place on April 25, 1626.

To this day she is one of the most beautiful and magnificent warships ever built. But the Swedish Vasa sank shortly after sailing. She was not recovered from the Baltic Sea until 24 April 1961.

A large part of Brno celebrated its liberation just three days after the Red Army arrived in the city. It happened on 23 April 1945, when Marshal Malinovsky himself gave the order for the final attack from Major General Afonin's observation post on the hill above Křepice.

After several attempts at reconciliation, Jiří of Poděbrady declared war on Zielona Góra Unity on 22 April 1467. The siege of towns, castles and fortresses ended in victory for the Czech monarch. However, it was far from a definitive peace in the future.

He was a well-known patron and businessman. František Ringhoffer built a factory in Prague's Smichov district, where he produced railway carriages. They were used by monarchs like Franz Josef.

A rare gold coin, approximately 500 years old, was found by a woman in the garden of her home in Portsmouth, England. She borrowed the metal detector from her son when she was bored.

19.4. 1945 The Nazis burned the settlement of Ploština

Burnt houses and dozens of victims. That was the end of the rampage of the anti-guerrilla forces in the settlement of Ploština, which took place on April 19, 1945. Only one person managed to escape from the burning house into the forest.

Unlike his phlegmatic father, he was energetic and excitable. Joseph I of Habsburg was King of Hungary and Emperor of the Romano-Germans. However, he was never crowned King of Bohemia. He died on 17 April 1711 at the age of 32.

16.4. 1943 Poorly navigated raid on Skoda factory

Especially towards the end of the Second World War, the area of the Škodovka factory in Pilsen was the target of bomb attacks. However, on 16 April 1943, a mistake was made and bombs hit the nearby Dobřany, where a psychiatric hospital was located.
