7.11.1811 Karel Jaromír Erben is born

Erben was born in northern Bohemia, his father was a shoemaker. His parents had a total of nine children, only Karel and his sister Josefka lived to an old age.

6.11. 1611 The Rosenbergs died out by the sword

The mighty House of Rosenberg died out after the sword in November 1611, i.e. after the death of Peter Voke. His embalmed body was displayed in the castle cellar, after which the coffin was closed. The funeral took place in January.

5.11. 1605 Gunpowder Plot

As early as May 1604, a group of conspirators had been planning a coup in England. The so-called Gunpowder Plot was intended to put Princess Elizabeth on the throne and get rid of King James I. The assassination attempt ultimately failed, and all the rebels were executed.

4.11. 1922 Carter discovered the entrance to Tutankhamun's tomb

In November 1922, British archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter discovered the entrance to Tutankhamun's tomb and peered into it for the first time. Inside were three thousand-year-old intact treasures of incalculable value.

An Iron Age grave in Norway

Archaeologists have discovered a remarkably well-preserved skeleton on the archipelago of Lofoten, which they believe dates back to the Iron Age. It appears to have an axe stuck in its jaw.

3 Nov 1493 Columbus found the island of Dominica

The island of Dominica was discovered by Columbus on his first voyage west. At first, he thought he had arrived in India. The Spanish could not colonise the island because the indigenous people defended their territory.

2.11. 1766 Marshal Jan Josef Václav Radecký was born

Radecký served five emperors faithfully. He demanded discipline and obedience from his subordinates, but always tried to create the best possible conditions for them. He earned the nickname Father Radetzky.

1.11. 1914 Battle of Coronel

In the naval battle of Coronel, the Germans defeated the British.Vice-Admiral Maximilian von Spee forced the enemy to use their superior ship speed and better heightwith their ships looming on the horizon against the setting sun, and then he simply shot his opponent.

222 years old coin near the church

The historically significant coin was found by metal detectorist Shane Houston near the church. It's a copper cent from 1798. It's the first U.S. federal penny.

5000 year old skull surgery

Archaeologists have found a 5,000-year-old skull showing signs of surgery. But the man didn't live long after the procedure. Scientists say it's an exceptional condition, however, as brain surgery was common in ancient times.
