7. 6. 2001 Divers discover the ship of a famous pirate

The ship of one of the most famous pirates was discovered by divers twenty years ago off the coast of Haiti. The sailing ship belonged to the British buccaneer Henry Morgan. Experts have compared the discovery to the Titanic.Henry Morgan lived in the seventeenth century, born around 1635. He was of Welsh descent and was one of the most important leaders of the Caribbean pirates. But he subsequently became their enemy. He crossed over to the other side.

The Viking treasure was found ten years ago by a prospector with a metal detector. Darren Webster unearthed 200 pieces of silver jewellery in Cumbria, north-west England. There's been a lot of interest in the hoard.

Thirty-eight years ago, Miloš Kříž from Rodvínov, near Jindřichův Hradec, discovered a silver treasure hidden under the floor of St Martin's Church in Bošilec during construction work. All he had to do was reach out with a pickaxe and dig into the ground. The depot contained 750 coins.

30 May 2000 Search for meteorite in Beskydy

Twenty-one years ago, searchers went to the Beskydy Mountains to look for a meteorite that exploded. It entered the atmosphere at 54,000 kilometres per hour. A man from Ostrava found one of the fragments in the garden of his cottage in Morávka.

Six years ago, archaeologists started exploring the Czech Switzerland National Park. They discovered the remains of hunting grounds of prehistoric hunters and dozens of flintstones. They also came across the remains of wild cats and beavers.
