21.6. 1689 "French" fire engulfed Prague

A huge fire engulfed Prague in 1689. Over 820 houses were engulfed in flames and 150 people died. Thirty arsonists were subsequently captured, a French revenge.

20.6. 1621 27 participants in the uprising sentenced to death

As early as 18 June 1621, a wooden execution scaffold covered with black cloth began to be built on Old Town Square in Prague, right next to the Town Hall. The execution of 27 representatives of the Estates Opposition took place three days later. Throughout the execution, trumpets and drums were sounded.

The Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944 ended in disaster for the Japanese Air Force. The Japanese lost some 300 aircraft in a single day, in what became known as the "pigeon shoot in the Marianas."

During the Battle of Cologne in June 1757 over twenty thousand soldiers were killed or wounded. It was therefore one of the largest conflicts of the Seven Years' War. The Prussians had to leave Bohemia after their defeat.

17 June 1848 Bloodshed in Běchovice

From 12 to 17 June 1848, an uprising took place in Prague, culminating the revolutionary process in the Czech lands. The whole railway from Olomouc to Prague was busy at that time. The tragedy occurred in Běchovice, where at least seven people died. Soldiers are said to have fired into the crowded carriages.

His team discovered the famous Venus of Věstonice. Karel Absolon was born on June 16, 1877. He is one of the most important figures in pre-war science and European archaeology.

15.6.1085 Vratislav II became King of Bohemia

The coronation of Vratislav II as King of Bohemia was a splendid one. It took place in St. Vitus Cathedral. The crown was put on the new monarch by Archbishop Egilbert, the ceremonial act was also watched by the chronicler Kosmas.

14.6.1894 235 people died in the mines

The cause of the explosion and fire in the mines in Karviná in 1894 has not yet been clarified. The explosion occurred at 9:30 in the evening. In one of the pits, a mine cart was thrown up to a height of 20 metres.

13.6. 1889 Pilot Adolphe Pégoud is born

He is considered to be the first air ace in history. Adolphe Pégoud was born on June 13, 1889. He also performed his acrobatic routine in Brno and Prague.

12. 6. 1771

12.6. 1771 Finding of the underwater treasure

It is estimated that the treasure of the underwater treasure consisted of up to seven thousand gold coins. It was found on 12 June 1771 after the flood by a poor farmer. The depot was subsequently seized by the local prince, who ordered thorough searches. Straws were torn up and even the floors were ripped out.
