Who among the Czechs would not know Jakub Krčín, undoubtedly the most famous fishmonger of all times. Although he came from a bourgeois family, his innate intelligence, unbreakable diligence and abilities elevated him in the course of his life among the highest social elite of his time.
A very good friend of mine, nicknamed Hombré since childhood, was born at the end of the 1930s. He was a serious shooter from his youth, who was not afraid of anything and went headlong into every adventure. He was very fond of dogs and from childhood he was fascinated by large dogs in particular. When the Germans were marching back to the Reich in the spring of '45 after losing the war, a German unit stopped in our village. The people were still afraid of the Germans, so the hungry and exhausted soldiers got a dumpling there, a pancake elsewhere and some coffee...
A few days ago I was driving between Oslov and Vlastec in South Bohemia and my attention was drawn to a Stalinec crawler bulldozer standing by the roadside in a field. Looking behind it at the wide ploughed fields, the idea for an article on this topic flashed through my mind. My ancestors were farmers, my grandfather was a farmer and we still own a nice few acres of fields and meadows. Therefore, this topic is somehow close to my heart even though the consequences of this action were fatal.The ploughing up of meadows and copses is nowadays often associated with landscape ecology, and this intervention in the Czech landscape was clearly a serious intervention and it changed and irreversibly damaged the Czech landscape.

As most of you already know, at the beginning of September 2020, 200 m away from my house, while walking my dog in the evening, I found a bracket of Přemysl Otakar II in a freshly fallen field.
