Hundreds of silver Celtic coins in a ceramic mug

A hoard of Celtic silver coins was discovered during an archaeological survey carried out prior to the construction of an electrical substation in Szombathely, Hungary. It is the largest find of its kind in Hungary in the last 60 years.

An Australian metal detectorist has found a gold nugget weighing 1,218 grams. It contains around 940 grams of pure gold, worth 2.3 million. However, its collector’s value could be much higher.

Eleven years after the discovery, the museum managed to acquire some of the coins, which have now been declared a hoard.
