The Myth of the Great Goddess

The exhibition The Myth of the Great Goddess will present to the public a unique set of so-called younger Venus from the Neolithic period, approximately 6,500 years old. These small female statuettes are among the most significant archaeological monuments of their period and are inherently linked to the cultures of the Early and Late Stone Age, which created one of the most remarkable phases of prehistory in Moravia and Central Europe.

Home at last

In honour of the return of the Czechoslovak Legionnaires to their homeland, an extraordinary commemorative ride on a historic steam train will take place this November. The event "Finally Home - The Story of Our Legionnaires" will commemorate the 105th anniversary of their return and the courage of all war veterans. The train headed by the locomotive 555.0153 will travel the route from České Budějovice to Prague, accompanied by legionnaires in period uniforms.

The graves speak: Prusso-Austrian War 1866

An unusual anthropological lecture in Turnov will reveal the secrets of mass graves from the Prussian-Austrian War of 1866. Archaeologist and anthropologist Mgr. Marcela Horáková will explain what a human skeleton can reveal about the suffering, health and life of the soldiers of that time. Come to the Museum of the Bohemian Paradise in Turnov on 30 October to commemorate the fallen from the war that significantly affected the Czech lands.
